We will make major mechanical announcements on vehicles that we know to have evidence of a bad motor, transmission, 4x4, front and rear diferential, etc. CarMax will also identify any known title brands and or title history. Other announcements include frame damage, flood damage as outlined by the National Auto Auction Association (NAAA).

CarMax Auction policies are available on auction day runlists and can also be obtained at the store or by calling our Auction Information Line at (888)804-6604.

General Information
CarMax Auctions are DEALER ONLY auctions. All individuals attending a CarMax Auction must be signed up as a representative of a licensed dealership.
Unfortunately, our facilities do not have the space to drive the vehicles. After purchasing a vehicle, we encourage dealers to drive their vehicles to verify our announcements.
When you check in at your first CarMax Auction, the auction staff will take your picture. The ID card will be mailed to your dealership within 5-7 business days. If you have never received an ID card, ask the auction staff to take your picture at the next sale. If you already have had your picture taken, and need another card, call our Auction Information line at (888)804-6604 and an auction specialist can re-issue your card.
You can access purchase history, member profile, registration status, runlist preferences, etc. from the "Member Dashboard" page.

Through CarMax's unique appraisal process, we acquire thousands of units each week that do not meet our strict retail parameters. The vehicles that do not meet our requirements are sold through the on-site auction. Other vehicles offered for sale consist of our repossesions from our own finance company, CarMax Auto Finance.
Anyone attending the auctions must be signed up as an authorized agent of the dealership they represent. Our auctions are for DEALERS ONLY!! We have strict policies on this subject to help keep retail customers out of the bidding lanes.
